2024 Thanksgiving Eve Tournament Champion Alex Whitney

The 2024 Thanksgiving Eve Tournament concluded with a thrilling Eliminator Finals, featuring intense competition across three rounds.

Round 1:
In the first round, held on Lanes 13-14, four bowlers competed for the top two spots to advance. Alex Whitney led the pack with an impressive 228, followed by Tyler Herbinko, who bowled a 192 but used his 40-pin handicap to secure a total of 232. Whitney and Herbinko’s stellar finish meant Samuelson and Frisch were eliminated.

Round 2:
In the second round on Lanes 15-16, Alex Whitney and Tyler Herbinko went head-to-head. Whitney dominated the match, delivering an exceptional 254 and advancing to the championship round, while Herbinko’s 177 and 40-pin handicap brought him to 207, falling short of Whitney’s score.

Championship Match:
The final showdown on Lanes 17-18 featured Alex Whitney and top seed Travis Daley. Whitney continued his hot streak, rolling a phenomenal 258 to Daley’s 171 (184 with a 13-pin handicap). Whitney’s performance sealed his victory as the Eliminator Finals Champion.

Congratulations to PJ Sonday, winner of the fourth tournament of the Strike Zone Summer Series. Also congratulations to Zaine Mitchell, winner of the handicap division. PJ and Zaine both won their second tournament of this year’s series.

2023-2024 League Bowler Appreciation Tournament Recap

2023-2024 GSUSBC League Bowler Appreciation Tournament – Stepladder Finals Recap

The 2023-2024 GSUSBC League Bowler Appreciation Tournament culminated in an exciting Stepladder Finals, with bowlers showcasing incredible skill and determination.

Round 1:
In the opening match, #5 seed Betty Bauder edged out #6 seed Joe Yodis. Despite Yodis rolling a strong 185, Bauder’s solid 180 and 48-pin handicap gave her a total of 228 to Yodis’s 212, advancing her to the next round.

Round 2:
Bauder continued her impressive run in the second match, defeating #4 seed Rob Jennings. Jennings bowled an excellent 215, but Bauder’s 195 score and 48-pin handicap brought her to a commanding total of 243, eliminating Jennings.

Round 3:
In her third match, Bauder faced #3 seed Wendy Cunningham. Bauder’s consistent performance continued as she bowled a 179, with her handicap bringing her total to 227. Cunningham’s 168, even with her 46-pin handicap, resulted in a total of 214, securing Bauder’s place in the semifinals.

Semifinals:
Bauder’s streak came to an end in the semifinals against #2 seed Rich Shimkus. Shimkus bowled a 158 and leveraged his 45-pin handicap for a total of 203, defeating Bauder’s 131 (179 with handicap).

Championship Match:
The title match saw #2 seed Rich Shimkus go head-to-head with #1 seed Mike Frantz. In a thrilling finale, Shimkus bowled a clutch 161, and his 45-pin handicap pushed him to a total of 206. Frantz bowled a strong 167 but fell short with a total of 196, crowning Rich Shimkus as the 2023-2024 GSUSBC League Bowler Appreciation Tournament Champion.

3rd Annual GSUSBC Adult-Youth Doubles Tournament Recap

Tournament Champions: Kevin and Elijah Killian

The finals began with the 4th-seeded team of Eric Buchinski and John Hudock facing the 5th-seeded team of Hannah and Robert Fisher. The Fishers advanced with a scratch score of 198 (handicap total of 224), defeating Buchinski/Hudock’s scratch score of 151 (handicap total of 180).

In the second match, the Fishers competed against the 3rd-seeded team of Gunner and Devin Selinko. It was a close game, but the Selinkos secured the win with a scratch score of 158 (handicap total of 199), narrowly overcoming the Fishers’ scratch score of 160 (handicap total of 192).

The third match saw the Selinkos face the 2nd-seeded team of Elijah and Kevin Killian. The Killians delivered an impressive performance, bowling a scratch score of 210 (handicap total of 250), outscoring the Selinkos’ scratch score of 154 (handicap total of 195), advancing to the championship round.

In the final match, the Killians faced the top-seeded team of Brody Kline and TJ Trout. The Killians continued their dominant run, posting a scratch score of 233 (handicap total of 273) to defeat Kline/Trout’s scratch score of 191 (handicap total of 219), securing the tournament championship.

Congratulations to Kyle Weaver for winning Strike Zone Alleys 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Eve Tournament. Kyle Weaver and TJ Trout advanced over Alex Whitney and Kevin Killian in the Quarterfinals. Kyle then bested 2022 champion TJ Trout 210-195 in the Semi-Finals. Kyle then beat 2021 champion Steve Hagy in the final match to become the 2023 champion
